About the Share

Previous | Next

When you become shareholder in the Rock Spring Farm CSA, you purchase a "share" of the farm's seasonal harvest. Shares are sized to accomodate the needs of a four-person family, or two adult vegetarians. In addition to the main summer vegetable share, we offer a winter vegetable share, summer and winter fruit shares, a summer "salad" share, and lamb and pork from our farm.

A Sample Box for Late August

1 pound french petite beans
1 pound carrots
1 dutch cucumbers
1 garlic bulb
1-1/2 pounds leeks
2 muskmelons
1 pound onions

6 ounces salad mix
1-1/2 pounds yukon gold potatoes
1 pound round red tomatoes
1 pint sungold cherry tomatoes
1 bunch thyme
1 bunch zinnias

Many of our members have commented to us that they eat more vegetables than ever before now that they have a supply of clean, truly fresh produce. Meal preparation is easier when there's no dirt to remove, and even "picky eaters" enjoy the difference that truly fresh vegetables make.

Vegetable Share - The basic CSA share. A mix of the freshest picks of each season harvested at the peak of flavor. A weekly gathering of healthy, clean vegetables and herbs delivered for 17 weeks from June through mid-October. Each box contains 8-14 items and includes a farm report with a list of vegetables, helpful and original recipes and tips on preparation and storage of your produce. June 13 through October 3.

Summer Fruit Share - An every-other-week delivery of certified organic fruit, sourced from the best fruit growing regions of North America. One to two varieties of peak-of-the-season fruits, from July’s blueberries, cherries, and grapes through summer’s peaches and nectarines to early October’s pears and apples. June 27 through October 3. Available with a Summer Vegetable Share or a Salad Share.

Winter Vegetable Share - A bounty of stored crops combined with harvests from the hardiest crops, including our greenhouse-grown salad greens. Includes salad greens, spinach, broccoli, carrots, potatoes, onions, winter squash, and an array of other goodies. An every-other-week selection of 12 – 18 items, about a two-week supply for most families. Delivered October 17 and 31, November 14, and December 15 and 19.

Winter Fruit Share - An every-other-week delivery of certified organic fruit, sourced from the best fruit growing regions of North America.
